On Thursday, September 19, City’s First Readers and Human Care NY are collaborating to celebrate Dads Take Your Child to School Day at P.S.189 M in Washington Heights.
Dads Take Your Child to School Day started in 2007 and it commemorates the power of a father figure’s presence in their child’s education journey. Recognizing this day is not just about drop off (which is important too), it calls attention to a father figure’s contributions and the crucial impact that they can have in their child’s education and life.
Dads could not be in better hands than they are with City’s First Readers. City’s First Readers is a group of 17 nonprofits that offer early learning programs and activities for families with children from birth to age 5. Their programs empower parents and caregivers with skills, knowledge and the confidence to raise children who love books and are eager to read before they reach the classroom. On this special day, CFR partners will demonstrate to dads who take their child to school how they can support reading and learning at home.
Let’s inspire, empower, and encourage all dads and father figures to be active participants in their child’s education. Join CFR and Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos (District 72) on Thursday morning, September 19, 2024 at 8:30am at PS 189, located 2580 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10040.
