In Full Bloom: A Celebration of Very Involved Parents (VIPs) as Community Leaders

Updated: 22 hours ago

On May 16, LINC hosted a heartfelt and vibrant celebration of our Very Involved Parents (VIPs) at the In Full Bloom event, honoring their growth, leadership, and continued impact in the community. The event brought together 26 dedicated VIP alumni—some of whom have been part of the LINC family for over 10–15 years—highlighting the long-standing and deeply rooted commitment of our parents.

We were thrilled to welcome our partner organizations to this celebration: Ariel Ferriera of The World Changers delivered an empowering financial literacy workshop that helped instill the importance of a strong foundation. Jennyfer Gonzales from Grow Your Own and Jocelyn LeBron and Casandra Chen from 1199SEIU Funds were present to show their continued investment in the VIP journey and its legacy of leadership.

The afternoon portion featured a powerful panel and leadership development-focused Q&A of six former VIPs—now LINC staff—and one former staff member currently serving at PS 170 in the Bronx. Their testimonies offered living proof of the transformative power of the VIP Academy as a pathway to leadership, employment, and community service.

We enjoyed a Mother's Day Celebration and appreciation brunch together, shared stories, and most importantly, affirmed what we already know to be true: VIPs are the heartbeat of LINC. They are not just volunteers—they are changemakers, literacy advocates, and leaders shaping their families and communities.

This event was more than a celebration—it was a reaffirmation of our collective purpose. As we continue evolving the VIP program with clearer pathways, greater alumni engagement, and structured leadership development, we are reminded that our greatest asset is the people who stay and grow with us.
