Introducing Gilberto Agosto, Jr., LINC’S New Director of the Reads Initiative

In the community and online, LINC connects families to critical learning activities and helps children access literacy programs that meet their individual needs. Our collective impact programs like the Reads Initiative combine the power of 11 early literacy organizations across three New York City communities, an effort that requires strong focus and leadership abilities. We are delighted to welcome a new leader to that role, Gilberto Agosto, Jr. is the new Director of the Reads Initiative.

A native of East Harlem, Gilberto Agosto has led a myriad of teams within non-profit organizations for over three decades. Early in his career, he served as one of the first male involvement health educators at Maternity Infant Care. As a senior program director for a national pregnancy prevention program of The Children’s Aid Society, Gilberto started one of the first after school programs that became fully integrated within a public school. During his tenure as the Director of Youth Services at Union Settlement Association, Gilberto spearheaded the Manhattan District Attorney’s Youth Opportunity HUB Initiative that provided an array of diverse enrichment, prevention and intervention programs for the East Harlem community.

His experience both living and working in his community combined with his passion for youth development make Gilberto a natural leader for the Reads Initiative and we are thrilled to have him on our team.

Welcome Gilberto!
