Meet LINC’s Honoree: Our Very Own Debora Mulrain!

WE ARE HONORED TO BE PRESENTING THE MIMI LEVIN LIEBER LEGACY AWARD TO DEBORA MULRAIN!

"I see myself as the keeper of LINC's original message. It's not a hard job because I'm happy to say we are all still working toward the original goal." - Debora Mulrain, LINC's Chief Community Officer

LINC’s Chief Community Officer, Debora Mulrain (or “Ms. Deb” as she is affectionately known by many in the LINC community) is one the longest-standing employee here at LINC. She joined the staff in 1998, just two short years after LINC was founded… and has been with us ever since!

“Why I came to LINC is simple: Mimi. And why I stayed at LINC continues to be simple: it’s Mimi,” says Deb, speaking of LINC's founder, Mimi Levin Lieber. “Mimi’s theory of community change – that’s what drew me to LINC. I’ve stayed because her theory is correct.”

For 27 years now, Deb has been making a difference in communities across New York City through her commitment to children and families. “It’s great to have a job, but to have a job where you feel like you’re giving back – you can’t beat that,” she says with a grin.

So when we heard that LINC’s beloved self-described “keeper of LINC’s original message” was planning to retire… well, we knew we couldn’t let her go without throwing her a really big party!

“Deb is at the heart of LINC. She brings Mimi's insight and guidance to those who didn't have the opportunity to work alongside her,” says Shari Levine, LINC’s Executive Director. “I treasure Deb and the experience and wisdom she brings to LINC. She has been by my side throughout my tenure at LINC, and I am so pleased to bestow this honor on her.”

Deb exemplifies Mimi’s passionate commitment to early literacy and educational justice. We hope you will join us in celebrating her many years of service at the Gala on May 19th!

If you can't attend, we invite you to make a donation to support LINC as we work to achieve Mimi and Deb's vision of a more equitable society.
