Literacy in Community (LINC) is proud to announce that we are an official charity partner for the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon! Our team will join runners from around the globe on Sunday, November 3rd to experience a thrilling 26.2-mile journey through the five boroughs of New York City. Please join us in supporting them as they push their limits, test their courage, and cross the finish line - all while raising essential funds for early literacy. Meet our 2024 runners and discover what prompted them to read and run to change lives in NYC this fall.
Jessica Crandall
Jessica Crandall is a lifelong reader and New Yorker, proud to run her first marathon in support of Literacy in Community (LINC). Reading has been a constant companion in Jessica’s life and has shaped her identity, opening her eyes to a vast array of perspectives and ideas. She believes that literacy plays a crucial role in young lives, opening doors and creating more empathetic citizens of the world, which leads to real change. Donate to support Jessica Crandall here.
Cat Cazes
Cat Cazes is native New Yorker and first time marathon runner with a passion for the power of early literacy. Cat learned to read at the young age of two and has been an avid reader since then. For Cat, LINC’s mission—to promote early literacy across the five boroughs—resonates on both a personal and professional level. Reading and writing are the foundation of her work and reading has unlocked many doors for her. Cat is proud to support LINC in leveling the playing field and creating opportunities for families across New York City. Donate to support Cat Cazes here.
Isabelle White
Isabelle White is honored to run her first New York City Marathon in support of early literacy on Team LINC. An avid reader herself, Isabelle knows that giving parents the literacy tools and community resources to help their child thrive is so important for building up the next generation of readers. Isabelle is excited to explore all that New York City’s five boroughs have to offer as she trains for the big day and connects her love of reading to her passion for running. Bradley Brown
Bradley Brown enjoys reading, and feels fortunate to be in a position to help children access the resources and support they deserve so that they can experience the joys of reading, too. He is thrilled to be running the New York City Marathon to raise funds for LINC! Donate to support Bradley Brown here.
Inez Martinez
Inez Martinez began running with her father at seven years old and always dreamed of participating in the NYC Marathon. As a child, Inez experienced firsthand the crucial role that literacy plays in one’s everyday life, as she helped her mother communicate in English and nourish her love of books. Inez’s passion for reading and running soon became outlets for overcoming life’s challenges and inspired her to give back to her community. Today, Inez is LINC’s Family Engagement Specialist in East Harlem, her home, where she brings the joy of reading and learning to countless families so that they can thrive. Donate to support Inez Martinez here.
Thank you Jessica, Cat, Isabelle, Bradley, and Inez! We can’t wait to cheer you on in November! Like the TCS NYC Marathon, LINC spans all five boroughs in our work to bring the joy and power of reading to New York City’s most vulnerable children. Please join us in supporting Team LINC as they run for little readers.
