Literacy is essential to our economy, to our democracy, and to building a more equitable society. Since 1996, Literacy Inc. (LINC) has worked to improve literacy among children living in some of NYC’s highest poverty neighborhoods. Through engaging community programming that parents, caregivers and children can participate in, LINC works to promote equity in education and inspire families to embrace the power and joy of reading. The programs and tools LINC provides equip children during the first five and most critical years of development, with foundational literacy skills so that each of these children, regardless of economic background, enters school ready to succeed.
