LINC Board Departures and Arrivals
LINC says farewell and best wishes to Board Member Will Estilo and welcomes new Board Member, Nasreen Davidson! LINC’s Board of Directors sets the pace and the policies that guide the organization. We are very grateful to Board Member Will Estilo, who stepped off the board in early June, 2019. Will’s professional obligations with Deloitte are taking him and his family to Japan. He will remain involved with LINC through his work with the Finance and the Audit Committees. All of his board colleagues and the LINC staff unite to say “Thank you” for the energy, enthusiasm for LINC’s mission, and the expertise Will has brought to us during his tenure on the board. Will has shared, “I’ve truly enjoyed my time serving on the LINC Board and building the many friendships and overall relationships with you and the LINC staff. Thank you for allowing me the pleasure to serve with you for such an important cause and wonderful organization.” “Sayonara, Will.” We wish you well on this journey and look forward to your return. At the same time, we are pleased to welcome Nasreen Davidson, the Director of Global Human Resources at Credit Suisse. She first became interested in childhood literacy when her cousin established a school for impoverished children in Bangladesh. That interest became personal when her own daughter struggled with reading. “Seeing LINC foster a community, developing a culture of reading from within a neighborhood, and bringing families together in support of helping children learn to read is not an approach I’ve seen in other organizations,” she said. Nasreen was introduced to Literacy, Inc. through BoardLead.“It’s the mission, making reading both visible and valued in communities,” she said when asked what drew her to LINC. “Providing parents with the tips and tools they need to create the habit of reading together as a family transforms everyone - children, parents and even the larger community.” Nasreen’s understanding of and passion for the work LINC does is striking; we’re all excited to have her perspective and participation as the newest member of LINC’s Board of Directors.
