Literacy Inc. (LINC), a leader in educational justice, is proud to present our latest public service announcement (PSA), the Gift of Literacy starring our long-time community partners, the New York Yankees! Like LINC, the New York Yankees want to make sure that all families have access to quality early education programs and they are proud to broadcast it.
The Gift of Literacy lasts a lifetime, it unlocks a world of opportunities, and we are grateful to the Yankees for sharing our message. This PSA features five players Zach Britton (pitcher), Kyle Higashioka (catcher), Anthony Rizzo (infielder), Aaron Boone (manager), and Aaron Hicks (outfielder), who are sure to score a home run with New York City families.
I would read to you from the time you are born until you can read on your own. Reading together will prepare you to do well in school and help you to grow healthy and strong just like ME.
LINC focuses on engaging children early (age 0-5) because bonds created during this critical period matter. Little brains grow an amazing 90% during their first five years, shaping a child’s developmental trajectory long before starting school.
The New York Yankees have consistently supported young readers across New York City. Our multifaceted partnership has covered fundraisers, donor cultivation events, and literacy programs for families, including our pre-pandemic annual Reading on the Rails adventure–when families in the five boroughs read their way to Yankee Stadium.
