Breaking Records and Reading Together with Evelyn Del Rey

Updated: Oct 26, 2020

Attention all readers! As we bid goodbye to the long days of summer and say hello to autumn’s falling leaves, LINC is partnering with Jumpstart to present the fifteenth annual Read for the Record campaign on Thursday, October 29th, 2020. This year, LINC’s virtual programs will be at the forefront of Jumpstart’s national literacy event as we help to build intergenerational literacy communities by providing families with the tools they need to spread the joy of reading.

Each year, Read for the Record unites millions of adults and children as they read the same book on the same day and LINC will engage more families than ever this year than with our online programming. LINC will safely distribute copies of Evelyn Del Rey is Moving Away throughout seven of our communities prior to the event so that we can come together virtually to sing songs, write postcards, and read aloud this year’s special book - a timely story during the current pandemic. Evelyn Del Rey’s story reminds us of the enduring power of friendship, storytelling and sharing what we love no matter what the distance.

To date, over 22 million people have participated in Read for the Record, and hundreds of thousands of high-quality books have been provided to children in underserved communities across the country.
