On Friday, December 4, New York Times Best-Selling author of Dragons Love Tacos Adam Rubin joined LINC live for our #TacoBoutBooks online program and the audience was over the moon. With this quirky writer as our special guest you could feel the young readers’ enthusiasm bursting through the screen, making this one of our most popular virtual programs ever with almost 100 attendees.
LINC received a generous donation of Adam’s Dragons Love Tacos, the Sequel from Penguin Books a few weeks before the event. Along with specially designed activity kits, LINC staff safely distributed copies of the book in the communities where we work and registered attendees for the #TacoBoutBooks (Talk About Books) program.
LINC’s #TacoBoutBooks program was a fun-filled hour that included a scavenger hunt, a game of Simon Says, and a live bilingual read aloud and Q & A session with Adam. Just as Dragons Love Tacos, the Sequel introduced the topic of time travel, LINC incorporated a time capsule adventure into the program to help parents teach their families about math and time.
Adam talked about his favorite book, his favorite taco and the little dragon eating statue that sparked his idea for the book Dragons Love Tacos. He also shared wonderful advice on what inspires him to write: “write what you want to write about. Write for yourself and tell your unique story. After all, it is what you know best and you can make anything that you want happen.”
#TacoBoutBooks, that is one talk these kids are sure to remember and appreciate.
Thank you Adam Rubin for helping make #TacoBoutBooks one of LINC’s best online programs to date. We can’t wait to invite you back!
