LINC Celebrates World Read Aloud Day in Eight New York City Communities

Read Aloud and Change the World

On Wednesday, February 5, 2020 LINC launched the first of its quarterly literacy holiday celebrations as part of World Read Aloud Day. From the Washington Heights Library to the Staten Island Museum, our families celebrated World Read Aloud Day by reading the book CopyCat Bear by Ellie Sandall.

LINC staff, families and VIPs throughout the five boroughs of New York City came together for this momentous event. They shared stories, made their own blue bears and received free copies of the book.

LINC’s World Read Aloud Day festivities included parents and grandparents, families that have been with LINC during each of their children’s Pre-K years, and families that are brand new to our programs. Special guests included community partners from the New York City Parks and PTA presidents who are LINC advocates. It was a grand day for all, and the best part is that we were part of a universal effort to make literacy a human right. Now in its second decade, World Read Aloud Day is celebrated in 173 countries around the globe.

Be Excited About Reading (B.E.A.R.) with us. Keep up the enthusiasm and help us spread the joy of reading. Reading aloud can change the world.
