LINC Launches 2023 Annual Report: A Year of Embracing Literacy in Community

Updated: Apr 10

"I have known all my life that building and strengthening communities is one of the best ways to help children, my own and everyone else’s.”-- Mimi Levin Lieber

This year was marked with many milestones for Literacy in Community (LINC)!  We paid tribute to our founder, Mimi Levin Lieber, by embracing the word "community" in our name.

We wrapped up 2023 proud of what we accomplished with you by our side. It is with deep gratitude that we present LINC’s 2023 annual report, a testimony to what we have accomplished together as committed colleagues, caregivers, and supporters.

In 2023, we increased the number of families served by 72%, reaching 2,767 families. We made literacy visible and valued across our eight LINC neighborhoods, providing 577 programs in partnership with 123 community organizations. We ignited literacy-rich communities and homes with the distribution of more than 15,000 children’s books, empowering families to build home libraries and share daily reading routines.

LINC's 2023 annual report showcases our impact and the passionate people working together to ensure that all children are ready to learn when they start school.

Meet VIP Edith Corona and her son, Alexis. They came to LINC through an Early Head Start program when Alexis was just 9 months old. Since then, she and Alexis have eagerly participated in over 150 LINC programs, and Edith beams with pride at her son Alexis's remarkable achievements. Now, at five, Alexis imagines his future self as both an author and an illustrator as he confidently reads aloud among his kindergarten peers.

As LINC’s engagement continues to grow, so does the number of families that can share transformative experiences like Edith and Alexis, paving the road for a brighter tomorrow.

We thank you for your unwavering support in 2023 and we look forward to you being part of our 2024 story.
