Congratulations to beloved author, LINC champion, and Canticos co-founder Susie Jaramillo on being honored with the McDonald's Metro Awards, Premios Héroes! This recognition celebrates leaders making a difference in shaping the future of our Hispanic youth—and we couldn’t think of a more deserving hero.

On Thursday, September 18, LINC's Deputy Executive Director, Eliana Godoy, Chief of Advocacy and Community Mobilization, Albania Jimenez, and Community Engagement Specialist, Jennifer Patrone joined Susie for the award ceremony at Above the Heights at Radio Tower in Washington Heights.

Premios Héroes recognizes inspiring heroes who are driving change in our communities and was designed to spotlight individuals making a significant impact on the educational development and future of Hispanic youth.

With this prestigious award came a $5,000 donation to the charity of her choice for which Susie chose LINC, and we could not be more proud. Through her creativity, vision, and dedication, Susie has been an invaluable partner in our mission to empower families, mobilize communities, and ensure every child grows up surrounded by books and literacy-rich experiences.

Thank you, Susie, for collaborating with LINC programming through the years and for inspiring children to read, dream, and thrive. We are grateful to you and to the McDonald's Metro Association for this generous donation which will put more books into the hands of little New Yorkers. Together, we are proving that when communities come together, literacy becomes a right—and a reality—for all children.
